The importance of evidence after an accident in construction

On Behalf of | Jul 8, 2024 | Construction Accidents

Accidents happen, and people who work in construction know this very well, perhaps better than most people.

If you sustain an injury due to an accident at a construction site, gather the evidence to help you in case you have to file a personal injury lawsuit.

Photos and videos

You or a coworker should take photos and videos of the accident scene from different angles.

If equipment or other objects were involved in the accident, take photos of the equipment/objects.

Statements from witnesses

If you can, get contact information and even statements from coworkers that may corroborate your version of the events that lead to your accident and injury.

Accident report

Secure a copy of any report anyone filed with an employer, general contractor, the Department of Buildings, the Police or any other authority.

In addition, consider securing the following evidence to corroborate your claims:

  • Medical records
  • Employment records
  • Safety records
  • Equipment maintenance records

Gathering as much as you can and organizing it in an understandable way will support you if you decide to seek compensation, whether now or down the road.
