Biography
Professional
Recognized as one of the top trial lawyers in New York, Andy litigates a wide range of matters involving serious personal injury but has a compassionate commitment to representing survivors of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Andy recognizes that “fair compensation” for the unquantifiable losses brought about by brain injury can never truly be achieved or translated into a dollar amount. Even the FORTY-THREE MILLION DOLLARS a jury awarded one of his TBI clients cannot tell the entire story. Knowing the obstacles and challenges TBI survivors face from the legal system and seemingly uncaring insurance companies, Andy prepares for battle on day one. His courtroom clashes have regularly placed those triumphs among the “Top 100 Verdicts” reported in the state annually. Andy’s unmatched medical acumen and his refusal to give up until achieving an outcome fully satisfying to his own sense of justice are integral parts in his formula for success. Andy has been honored as a Super Lawyer selection continuously since 2010, which represents the top 5 percent of lawyers in the specialty of personal injury.
Committed to survivors of brain injury, Andy is on the Board of Directors of the Brain Injury Association of New York State (BIANYS), whose mission is to "minimize brain injury through prevention, and to support, educate and advocate for individuals with brain injuries and their families." In 2024 Andy was honored as the BIANYS Journey of Hope Gala Victory Award Winner. The Victory award is given in recognition of a remarkable individual who significantly exemplifies leadership, advocacy, and an unwavering belief in the strength of the brain injury survivor community by exhibiting an unparalleled commitment to improving their quality of life. Andy is also on the Board of Directors of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, whose mission is "To promote a safer and healthier society, to assure access to the civil justice system by those who are wrongfully injured, and to advance representation of the public by ethical, well-trained lawyers."
Arising from and inspired by his practice of law, Andy authored The Tug Wyler Mystery Series, a collection of emotionally charged and thought provoking medical-legal thrillers. With Suzy’s Case, his debut novel, Andy was able to put a human face on a reality he knows so well from his work life: the intensity of the experience of TBI survivors and their families. Suzy’s Case was optioned by CBS Television, was a People.com Best Beach Read, and was a Suspense Magazine Best Book.
Andy also authored Second Impact – The Ray Ciancaglini Story. Ray is a former professional boxer and award-winning concussion awareness activist who sustained a brain injury in the ring. Andy wrote Ray’s life story to educate and protect today’s youth athletes from the harm that can result by “playing through” a concussion.
Personal
Andy grew up on Long Island and his athletic passion in high school was lacrosse. The skill he possessed was a simple one: he was really good at picking the ball up off the ground. Since ball possession determines the outcome of a game, he was the one, rather than the guy scoring all the goals, named Most Valuable Player having set school records in both most faceoff wins and ground ball possessions. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans and played lacrosse Louisiana style with red beans and rice and Dixie beer on the sideline. A memorable highpoint was when his Green Wave team won the Southwest Championship of Lacrosse beating Texas A&M in an exciting fourth quarter come-from-behind victory.
Andy’s next stop was Brooklyn Law School where he worked at a medical malpractice defense firm during his studies. Defending doctors and hospitals when, too often, there was no defense, led to his decision to commit himself to working for the victims—who through no fault of their own—find their lives tragically changed in the blink of an eye by an act of negligence.
Andy litigated his first jury trial the day after he was admitted to the bar and has been in the courtroom ever since. He knows that to be a successful litigator, each trial requires the full devotion of his time and dedication of his emotions to the client. It has been this formula, together with his passion for all things medical, that has made him a courtroom success resulting in jury verdicts with a cumulative value of over EIGHTY-SIX MILLION DOLLARS.
Andy is also a dedicated husband, father and lover of dogs.

The Tug Wyler mystery series has thrust readers headfirst into the emotionally charged high-stakes arena of personal injury law. Tug is a dogged and ingenious seeker of justice and very much a law unto himself. He’s thinks on his feet in always unpredictable ways with high-wire risk-taking a major part of his legal life. He is as at home on the streets of New York City as he is in the courtroom, with a self-mocking style that’s a far cry from your ordinary lawyer.
At the center of each novel lays the rush to cover up genuine wrongs. What keeps Tug digging deeper and deeper into the circumstances is his compulsion to make the system work for people at a disadvantage with their life situation stacked against them. Tug is unswerving in his dedication because justice is an outcome the big insurance companies—through their high paid lawyers—vigorously resist. The result: a high-energy, David versus Goliath/good versus evil, scenario. Pretty much like Andy’s day job … For more please visit: andysiegel.com
Second Impact: The Ray Ciancaglini Story chronicles the account of a young boy’s life whose future had been filled with tremendous promise tragically sent off course by his instinctive competitive spirit. When Ray was sixteen, he took a hard blow to the head in a boxing match. With the misconception that you had to be knocked out to sustain a concussion, he stepped into the ring again the following week and suffered a second concussion while still in the recovery phase of the initial one. The injurious effects to Ray’s brain from this “second impact” altered the course of his existence forever.
All proceeds from the sale of the book are donated to Ray’s non-profit organization: thesecondimpact.com.
